A letter to my younger self!

Dear Younger Me,

I have so many things that I want to tell you, and so many stories that I want to share. While life can be breathtakingly beautiful, it can also be excruciatingly painful, but I want you to know that we are strong enough and we do get through it.

Life seems so complicated and confusing at times, and I know you feel a bit lost in a sea of emotions and fear. I can feel your heavy heart beating in mine. I can feel the warms drops of your tears fall on my face. I can feel the effort you are making and how you are trying to get through life.

I also feel your happiness and laughter. My body sways when I hear our favourite song. I think back to how we would dance in the rain, run barefoot on the grass and play outside until the sun disappeared. I feel the excitement and adventure of the possibilities we have ahead of us! Enjoy these moments. Don’t rush to adulthood. There is so much more life to live and things to do at your age. Take advantage of your youth and vigour because these qualities diminish with time.

I would like you to know a few things:

Everything that you are going through and experiencing right now is what makes us stronger. Every experience you are having is a lesson learnt that we do carry with us every day of our lives.

People judge you, and that is okay! There are people who don’t like you, but you need to learn to accept this and move on. Let them misunderstand you. What they think of you is not your problem. Focus on the people that do love you. Focus on those that matter.

Forgive quickly! Stop holding onto anger and the past. Let go and free yourself from holding onto things that you cannot change.

Fear should not be preventing you from living your life to the fullest! There is so much you can offer the world, so be brave and keep going. Know that it works out in the end, maybe not the way we wanted it to, but it does work out.

Love with all your heart, sing at the top of your lungs, be weird. Be your authentic self always.

Choose kindness and compassion. Even when the world is cruel.

Have your heart broken into a million pieces, laugh until you cry and cry until you laugh.

Enjoy your time with your friends and family because sadly, some of them are not here anymore, and your time with them will become your most treasured memories. Hug your parents and grandparents a little tighter, spend more time with them, tell them you love them.

Allow yourself grace, let your lofty self-expectations go; you don’t have to be perfect; your flaws are what make you unique.

Be wise with your words, especially with the things you say to yourself. What you tell yourself becomes what you believe, so choose your words wisely.

Be grateful for the people in your life who care about and support you. Do not be afraid to let them know how much they mean to you. Although some of these people will hurt you, break your heart, or abandon you, there are others who will help get you through your most difficult days. You have people in your life that will hug you when you need to be hugged, help you put yourself back together when your world is collapsing, and hold your hand pulling you through some of your darkest times. Keep nurturing these relationships.

Keep your heart soft in the face of adversity. Use the lessons you’ve learnt through your difficult experiences to help you grow. Feel your feelings, don’t push them aside. The pain and heartache you endure will teach you a lot about yourself. Your sea of emotions and confusion are the foundation of our strength today.

My dearest younger me,

Life will get hard. Life will wear you down. It will get messy and unpredictable. You will question it all!

But know this — You are strong. You are fearless. You are resilient and wiser than you know! All you must do is believe in yourself! Every blunder, setback, failure, disappointment, delight, triumph, and achievement has shaped who you are now. You are an invincible warrior who, while gracefully broken, stand proudly.

Love your fcking life!

It is our life. We own it, and we are making it the best damn story in the world!

A magical destiny awaits you…

What would you tell your younger self?
